Unbeaten Dallas Flash Clinch MLP Mid-Season Crown—Can St. Louis Shock Turn the Tables in Next Week’s Rematch?

Dallas Flash MLP Mid-Season Triumph: The Dallas Flash defeated the St. Louis Shock 3-1 on Sunday at Belknap Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to win the Edward Jones MLP Mid-Season Tournament. With this win, the Flash remain unbeaten in the 2025 season and take home six standings points and a $50,000 prize.

The St. Louis Shock earned four standings points and $25,000 as runners-up. The New Jersey 5s, who beat the Texas Ranchers earlier in the day, claimed third place, earning two points and $12,500.

Strong Mixed Doubles Lead the Way

The match between the Dallas Flash and the St. Louis Shock began with each team winning one gender doubles game. Tyra Hurricane Black and Jorja Johnson gave Dallas a quick start with an 11-3 win in women’s doubles. But the Shock responded when Hayden Patriquin and Gabriel Tardio beat JW Johnson and Augustus Ge 11-4 in men’s doubles.

From there, Dallas took control. In mixed doubles, JW Johnson and Jorja Johnson won 11-5 against Hayden Patriquin and Anna Bright. Then, Tyra Hurricane Black and Augustus Ge battled back from a 0-4 deficit to edge out Gabriel Tardio and Kate Fahey 12-10.

A Dreambreaker tiebreak wasn’t needed, as Dallas had already secured three wins.

St. Louis Fought Hard but Fell Short

The St. Louis Shock had chances in all three of the games they lost. Anna Bright and Kate Fahey led 3-0 in women’s doubles before losing. Hayden Patriquin and Anna Bright were up 3-1 in the first mixed match, and Kate Fahey and Gabriel Tardio had a 4-0 lead in the second mixed game.

Still, Dallas held strong and closed out every tight game.

Augustus Ge reflected on how much the win meant after last year’s loss in the semifinals at the same venue.

“This is huge for us because last year at this tournament, we were still very much on our journey of maturing and developing as a team,” he noted. “That culminated last year in our season championship, and now this year’s win shows that we’re still going and still growing and developing, so it’s just awesome.”

Dallas Flash Shows Team Spirit and Focus

Dallas Flash team owner Mark Molthan praised his players and their team-first approach.

“They take it seriously, the whole team. Everyone is professional,” he said. “They all have a role, and they all do it. We came, and we won. That’s what we do.”

With strong leadership and well-balanced pairings, Dallas continues to set the pace in the 2025 MLP season.

What’s Next?

The St. Louis Shock will have a chance to bounce back soon. They are set to host the Marathon MLP St. Louis tournament next week and will face the Dallas Flash again during Saturday Primetime Pickleball.

That rematch could offer another thrilling chapter in what’s quickly becoming one of MLP’s top rivalries.
