Tyson McGuffin Sends a Message to the League After Defeating New Jersey5s, Says, “Why not the Orlando Squeeze?”

After winning Tyson Mcguffin sends a message to the league that they are coming for the title. The Orlando Squeeze halted the New Jersey 5s impressive seven-match winning streak in MLP Las Vegas with a commanding 3-1 victory on Tuesday. Playing on Championship Court, the Central Florida team, led by Federico Staksrud, Tyson McGuffin, Vivienne David, and Meghan Dizon, showed why they’re a force to be reckoned with in this tournament.

Mixed Doubles Magic

After splitting the opening gender doubles games, Orlando Squeeze found its rhythm in the mixed doubles, where Staksrud and David teamed up for an impressive win over Anna Leigh Waters and Will Howells in the second game. It was a performance marked by poise, precision, and a little bit of luck as Staksrud noted, “Anna Leigh’s a great player, and she had a few errors that she’s probably not gonna make every day, so we had to take advantage of those.”

Staksrud also highlighted how well the team handled critical moments, especially in hands battles that swung momentum in their favor. The pair’s strong finish came after McGuffin and Dizon set the tone, winning the first mixed doubles game over Mariana Humberg and Zane Navratil.

New Jersey 5s’ came in riding high, but Orlando Squeeze’s mixed doubles teams left no doubt about their dominance, sealing a key regulation win that keeps the Squeeze perfect in Sin City. Now at 3-0, Orlando Squeeze is rapidly climbing the Premier level standings, sitting seventh on a points-per-match basis.

Orlando’s Standout Performances

The day started with Orlando dominating the men’s doubles, where Staksrud and McGuffin overpowered Will Howells and Zane Navratil 25-10, while New Jersey 5s bounced back in the women’s doubles. Anna Leigh Waters and Mariana Humberg held their ground with a 25-19 victory over David and Dizon.

But the real turning point came in the mixed doubles showdowns. McGuffin and Dizon dismantled Humberg and Navratil 25-11, setting the stage for Staksrud and David’s closer, where they edged out Waters and Howells 25-22 to secure the win.

Eyes on the Premier Level Standings

With their third win in Las Vegas, the Orlando Squeeze currently sit seventh in the Premier level standings, averaging 1.47 points per match. They are within striking distance of the New York Hustlers, who are in sixth with 1.67 points per match. As the team continues to gel, McGuffin is confident they can close the gap.

I think we have all the key factors,” McGuffin said. “We’re all getting better and putting in the time and effort, so why not us? Why not the Orlando Squeeze?

Orlando Squeeze will look to keep their winning ways going as the Las Vegas competition heats up in the coming days.
