Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau advanced to the Proton Tucson Open women’s doubles final with an 11-8, 11-3 win over Meghan Dizon and Etta Tuionetoa. Despite a slow start, the top seeds took control late, scoring 21 of the match’s final 25 points.
Overcoming an Early Deficit
Dizon and Tuionetoa, playing together for the first time since Worlds, jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first game. However, Waters and Parenteau found their rhythm, tightening their shots and adjusting to the colder conditions. Their comeback secured them a spot in Championship Sunday.
Parenteau acknowledged the challenging start but credited their ability to adjust.
“We know that they’re a very good team, and we weren’t playing badly or using the wrong game plan. We just had to focus on making more balls because the conditions were difficult,” (Catherine Parenteau).
A High-Stakes Final Awaits
In the final, Waters and Parenteau will face No. 2 seeds Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher. With both teams in strong form, the title match promises to be an intense showdown.
