Waters Overwhelms Parenteau in Quick Match
Waters, an 18-year-old pickleball star, needed less than 27 minutes to eliminate her doubles partner from the singles competition. Despite their close friendship, Waters showed no hesitation on the court, shutting out Parenteau in the second game.
“It’s really tough [facing Catherine]. I was in the bathroom texting my mom, I’m like, ‘I’ve got to go out there with no mercy, but it’s so hard.’ When I see Catherine, I just want to talk to her during the match.” – (Waters)
She acknowledged Parenteau’s skill, adding,
“I definitely respect her game a lot. She had some insane gets. Definitely every time we face off, I remember all the insane matches we’ve had. Catherine’s been in the sport for a long time. She’s a great singles player, so to play her in the quarters is kind of a bummer. If we’re going to play, I’d much rather play her in a final or at least a semi-final.” – (Waters)
Next Challenge: Kate Fahey in Semifinals
Waters now advances to the semifinals, where she will face No. 6 seed Kate Fahey. With her dominant performance against Parenteau, Waters remains the strong favorite to continue her winning streak and compete for the championship.
