Johns recently competed with Gabe Tardio at the Carvana Mesa Cup, where they secured a silver medal. Before that, he partnered with Hayden Patriquin and Collin Johns. Daescu, meanwhile, has been in top form, winning back-to-back titles with Christian Alshon in Tucson and Mesa.

A Unique Partnership in the Making
Johns and Daescu are both accustomed to playing on the left side of the court. In this new pairing, one of them—most likely Daescu—will have to adjust to the right side. While both players are highly skilled, the positional shift could present challenges against elite competition.
The Cape Coral Open will feature a competitive field, including top duos like Federico Staksrud/Christian Alshon, JW Johnson/CJ Klinger, and Dylan Frazier/Riley Newman. The new combination of Johns and Daescu will be tested as they aim for a podium finish.
Looking Ahead to Future Tournaments
After Cape Coral, Johns and Tardio will reunite for the CIBC Texas Open in mid-March. Despite the frequent changes in partners, Johns remains a dominant force in men’s doubles. His ability to adapt and perform at the highest level will be on display once again in Florida.
