Jansen Dominates Wang

Jansen delivered a masterful performance at the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center, dominating every aspect of the match. She was able to absorb the pace of Wang’s hard-hitting shots while also dialing in her passing shots.

Jansen’s net play was sharp, often finishing points with ease. Despite the windy conditions, Jansen thrived on the court.

“I kind of knew today was going to be a good day for me because whenever you throw elements in, the pure ball-strikers struggle, and I am not a pure ball-striker. I just kind of scramble and use my athleticism, so I knew the elements were really going to favor me and my game.” – (Jansen)

Health Journey and Comeback

Jansen’s strong performance comes after overcoming a difficult health journey related to her Type 1 diabetes. Over the past several months, she has dealt with complications and sought out new treatments to address the issues she was facing.

She shared that she was mismanaged with her diabetes and had struggled to maintain her health. However, a recent diagnosis and new doctor have helped her get back on track.

“Over the past six months, I’ve been going down these doctor’s office rabbit holes. Right before Mesa, I finally got a diagnosis. There’s something neurologically wrong because I’ve been so mismanaged with my diabetes.” – (Jansen)

“They recommended me to a new doctor to kind of fix my brain, and I feel like I’m not freezing out there anymore. I’ve put in a lot of work and hired a new singles coach, who is great and very knowledgeable. She’s helped me a ton with my forehand, so I’m just getting back on track now and it feels really good.” – (Jansen)

Jansen Prepares for Final Showdown with Waters

Now, Jansen is poised to face Anna Leigh Waters in the final, a familiar opponent. While Jansen recognizes the challenge ahead of her, she finds confidence in the performance of Brooke Buckner, who recently showed that Waters could be vulnerable in the Mesa final.

“I’m just happy to be back in a final. She has all the pressure. I think Brooke showed us that [Waters] can be vulnerable, and I think we should all use that as some confidence going into each match against her.” – (Jansen)

Jansen’s return to form after her health struggles and her dominant performance in the semifinals make her a formidable challenger for Waters in the upcoming final.
