Red Rock Open Men’s Doubles: A Tournament Full of Surprises?

Red Rock Open Men’s Doubles: The PPA Tour moves west this week for the Black Desert Resort Red Rock Open in St. George, Utah. While not the largest stop on the tour, St. George has a strong pickleball community, ensuring a competitive and well-attended event. New and returning partnerships in men’s doubles add intrigue to the draw.

Strong Contenders in Men’s Doubles

In women’s doubles, top teams usually stay together, but men’s doubles often features new pairings. Federico Staksrud and Hayden Patriquin reunite as the No. 1 seed, aiming for a title run. Christian Alshon and Andrei Daescu, the No. 2 seed, enter the tournament after winning consecutive titles in Arizona, making them serious contenders.

A fresh pairing of Dylan Frazier and Dekel Bar takes the No. 3 seed. One key question for this duo is who will take the left side. Bar has been in excellent form, while Frazier is still adjusting to more left-side play but has not yet found the success he had with JW Johnson.

Exciting Early-Round Matches

The men’s doubles draw is deep, leading to thrilling early-round matchups. A standout Round of 32 clash features No. 10 Rafa Hewett and Julian Arnold against No. 20 DJ Young and Eric Oncins. Hewett and Arnold are known for their energy and loud on-court presence, contrasting with the quieter Young and Oncins.

Oncins has emerged as a strong left-side power player, while Young is capable of elite right-side play. Their matchup against the fiery Hewett and Arnold promises to be one of the tournament’s most entertaining battles.

A Competitive Tournament Ahead

With top-seeded teams, new partnerships, and early-round excitement, the Red Rock Open is set to be a thrilling event. Fans in St. George can expect intense competition and standout performances as the PPA Tour’s westward swing continues.

News in Brief: Red Rock Open Men’s Doubles

The PPA Tour heads to St. George, Utah, for the Red Rock Open this week. Staksrud/Patriquin, Alshon/Daescu, and Frazier/Bar are the top men’s doubles teams. A Round of 32 matchup between Hewett/Arnold and Young/Oncins could be one of the most exciting matches of the tournament.
