Trinh Linh Giang Pickleball Triumph: Vietnam claimed its first-ever continental pickleball titles at the PPA Tour Asia – Panas Malaysia Open on July 7 in Kuala Lumpur. Trinh Linh Giang and the teenage duo Tong Nhat Minh and Le Xuan Duc made history by winning gold medals in the Pro Men’s Singles and U18 Doubles events.
Giang Wins Vietnam’s First Pro Pickleball Title
Former tennis player Trinh Linh Giang defeated India’s Vanshik Kapadia in a close men’s singles final. He won the first set 12-10 after both players stayed even until the last few points. In the second set, Trinh Linh Giang outplayed Vanshik Kapadia 11-7 with powerful smashes and strong backhands.

Teen Duo Fight Back for U18 Doubles Gold
Tong Nhat Minh and Le Xuan Duc won Vietnam’s first gold in the U18 Doubles event. They lost the first set 1-11 to Irfan Kamil and Ithan Kamil from Malaysia. However, the pair stayed calm under pressure and came back strong in the next two sets.
“I am happy with the gold medal, but also a little disappointed because of our poor performance in the first set.”(Le Xuan Duc)
He added,
“My rivals were very good and we were overwhelmed in the first set. My partner, Vinh, was like me. We were under pressure, but due to our good mentality, we fought back hard to save the second set and won the third set easily.”
Tong Nhat Minh, who also won silver in the U18 singles event, praised his teammate.
“I praised my partner for his great skills and stable mentality. He helped us to come from behind to win this title. We will try hard to maintain our performance in the doubles event, while I plan to sharpen my technique to win other titles,” (Tong Nhat Minh).
Hong Kit Wong Wins Bronze in Pro Men’s Singles
At the PPA Tour Asia – Panas Malaysia Open 2025, Hong Kit Wong claimed the bronze medal in the Pro Men’s Singles category with a comeback win over Jimmy Liong Kai Long. After dropping the first set 8-11, Wong responded with strong play to take the next two sets 11-5, 11-5.

This event marks a turning point for Vietnam in Asian pickleball. These wins show the country’s growing skill in the sport and boost confidence for future competitions. The PPA Tour Asia continues with the Hong Kong Open, held at Kai Tak Arena from August 21 to 24.
