Johnson’s Take Over

Players Share Their Thoughts

Jorja Johnson spoke about the unique challenge of playing with wooden paddles.

“I have to say, this is some of the most frustrating pickleball I’ve ever played. I’m sure that everyone who played this tournament with a wooden paddle can attest. It really was a testament to just staying disciplined and hitting the shots you know you can hit,”(Jorja Johnson).

The match also featured an interesting twist, as JW Johnson faced his men’s doubles partner Dylan Frazier after they had won gold together earlier in the day. JW said the friendship made the competition fun.

“There was a lot of trash talk between the two of us yesterday in the Airbnb, but other than that, we know we’re going to be friends afterwards anyway, so I just wanted to go out there and try my hardest.”

Meaning of the Victory

This win strengthens Jorja and JW Johnson’s position as one of the top mixed doubles teams of the season. Their ability to stay composed under pressure and adapt to tough conditions highlights their growing dominance on the PPA Tour.
