Anna Leigh Waters Defeats Michelle Murphy at PPA: In a commanding display on Humana Championship Court, World No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters overwhelmed No. 25 Michelle Murphy with a decisive 11-4, 11-3 victory. The match, which lasted just 28 minutes, showed Waters’ continued dominance and precision on the court.
A Brief Break and a Strong Return
Waters, who has been in impressive form following her recent Triple Crown success in Las Vegas, took a short but necessary break to recharge. Despite her intense training regimen and physical therapy, she embraced the time off to rest and recuperate.
“I definitely wanted to train and get better, but I was pretty exhausted after playing in Vegas, so my personal trainer and physical therapist were like, ‘Ok, you’re taking this entire week off.’ Of course I did some physical therapy stuff, some pool workouts, stuff like that, but I honestly didn’t touch a pickleball until two days ago. I was excited about the break, but I was definitely excited to come back and play pickleball. I was getting a little bored not being able to play the sport that I love.” – (Waters)
Looking Ahead to the Round of 16
With the win, Waters advances to the Round of 16, where she will face No. 14 Zoey Wang. The match promises to be a compelling contest as Waters looks to continue her dominant run and build on her impressive start to the day.
