Calvert City Players Shine at PPA Atlanta: Calvert City pickleball players recently competed in the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) CIBC Atlanta Slam held in Atlanta, Georgia from September 9-15. This event is one of the 26 PPA stops across the United States, attracting a mix of pro and amateur players, along with enthusiastic spectators. The Atlanta Slam is a prime opportunity to witness top-tier pickleball talent, featuring stars like Anna Leigh Waters, Ben Johns, Tyson McGuffin, JW Johnson, Jorja Johnson, Dylan Frazier, Anna Bright, and Catherine Parenteau.
Venue and Competition
The competition took place at the LifeTime Peachtree Corners luxury health club, which boasts 40 courts. With over 1,200 entries, the event included categories such as Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Despite the large turnout, the weather on Friday, the 13th, posed a challenge. Rain from Hurricane Francine led to the cancellation of several outdoor events that could not be relocated indoors.
