Christian Alshon Prepares for Dallas Showdown: It’s been a wild ride in the pickleball world for Christian Alshon. He hit the ultimate high when he and Quang Duong took home gold in men’s doubles at the PPA Tour’s IHG Hotels Resorts Bristol Open. But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Christian Alshon’s season was cut short when a knee injury forced him to withdraw from singles competition and even miss MLP Dallas—a tough pill to swallow for a player used to being in the heat of competition.
However, Christian Alshon has taken this setback in stride. With the Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships approaching, he’s been laser-focused on turning his downtime into prep time. The two-week break after the Rate Championships has given him just what he needed to heal and get back on track.
Embracing Recovery and Preparation
“These two weeks have been very helpful, for my head and for my knee injury as well. I’ve been working out a lot, and that’s something I haven’t been able to do in the last four or five months because I’ve been injured,” explained Christian Alshon. “I’ve rested a lot, which is necessary for recovery. In Vegas, I started working out at tournaments to hopefully get my leg strong enough to overcome this knee injury. I’ve been in the gym with my trainer and physical therapist, and we have a schedule of everything I need to work on each day. That doesn’t even include playing pickleball. There’s so much outside of pickleball that you have to do.”
For Christian Alshon, preparation isn’t just about stepping onto the court. He’s working through a structured program with his trainer and physical therapist to stay on top of his game—and his health. This structured approach has helped alleviate some of the mental stress that comes with rehab.
The Importance of a Training Blueprint
Christian Alshon knows that with such a grueling season, you can’t just wing it. His team has laid out a clear roadmap for his training and recovery, freeing him up to focus on the essentials and, just as importantly, build in rest days.
“It’s important to have a plan for what I’m doing each day. Whether it’s taking a day off to work out and doing physical therapy and playing pickleball, that’s been really helpful,” Christian Alshon added. “But, I’m feeling prepared and ready to go to Dallas.”
This plan, as Christian Alshon sees it, allows him to channel his energy efficiently, keeping him both fit and sharp for what’s to come.
The Final Countdown to Dallas
When Christian Alshon steps onto the courts at Brookhaven Country Club in early November, he’ll have trusted partners by his side. Teaming up with Etta Wright for mixed doubles and James Ignatowich for men’s doubles, Christian Alshon is setting his sights high for the Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships. He’s confident and ready, bringing the focus and strength he’s gained through months of rehab and disciplined training.
