Venus Williams, celebrated for her seven Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals, has been granted a wild card for the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. This wild card includes entries in both singles and doubles competitions, marking her return to the tournament for the first time since 2024.
Celebrating a Legendary Tennis Career
The BNP Paribas Open’s Tournament Director, Tommy Haas, expressed enthusiasm about Williams’ invitation.
“It’s an honor to award the first wild card of this year’s event to Venus Williams,”
Haas said.
“Venus is a legend of the game, and one of the most accomplished players our sport has ever seen. We are thrilled to welcome her back to Tennis Paradise and give the fans the chance to see her compete in both singles and doubles.”
Williams debuted on the WTA Tour in 1994 and has since built an impressive legacy, including 49 singles titles at the Tour level and holding the World No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles. Her career features a total of 23 Grand Slam victories across all categories, among them seven singles Grand Slams. Additionally, Williams has four Olympic gold medals and claimed the 2008 WTA Tour Championships.
