Alexander Norén Bio
Alexander Norén (born 12 July 1982) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He has won twelve tournaments on the European Tour, including the BMW PGA Championship, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, the British Masters, HNA Open de France, and the Nedbank Golf Challenge. He was a member of the winning 2018 European Ryder Cup team.
Early Life and Background
Alexander Norén was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He first tried golf at the age of four and began playing at Haninge Golf Club. While he practiced other sports, he ultimately decided to prioritize golf. At the age of 14, he won the unofficial Swedish Youth Championship, Föreningsbanken Cup, at his age level, scoring 146 over 36 holes at Rya Golf Club. At 15, he attended the Swedish upper secondary sports school to combine his studies with golf training. He also worked as a junior editor at Svensk Golf, the official magazine of the Swedish Golf Federation.
Path to Golf
Norén represented Sweden as an amateur on all levels. He was part of the Swedish team that won the 2002 European Youths’ Team Championship in Gdansk, Poland. He also represented Sweden at the 2004 Eisenhower Trophy in Río Grande, Puerto Rico, where the Swedish team finished as bronze medalists, and Norén tied for third individually. He attended Oklahoma State University in the United States, where he achieved notable success, including a top-10 finish during his freshman year and being named to the GCAA All-Central Region team.

Early Career (2005–2006)
Norén turned professional at the end of 2005 and secured a place on the Challenge Tour by reaching the final stage of the European Tour qualifying school. In his rookie season, he claimed his first professional victory at the Rolex Trophy and finished the year in third place on the Challenge Tour Rankings, which allowed him to graduate to the European Tour for 2007. His rookie season on the European Tour was solid, and he improved his performance in the following year, finishing 31st on the Order of Merit.
Breakthrough (2009–2018)
Norén won his first title on the European Tour in September 2009 at the Omega European Masters, finishing 20 under par to win by two strokes. In June 2011, he won his second European Tour title at the Saab Wales Open, followed by a victory at the Nordea Masters in Sweden, where he won from wire-to-wire. After a challenging period due to tendonitis in both wrists, he returned to form in 2015, winning the Nordea Masters for the second time. In 2016, Norén experienced a remarkable season, winning four tournaments in eleven starts, including the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
