Anthony Markanich was born in Bourbonnais, Illinois, United States. He attended Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, where he excelled in soccer, scoring 40 goals and providing 14 assists during his senior year in 2017. His performance helped the Boilermakers achieve a third-place finish in the Illinois 3A State Tournament, earning him all-state honors.

In addition to his high school achievements, Markanich played club soccer for Chicago Fire from 2015 to 2016, where he made 24 appearances. He later joined Olympiacos Chicago, contributing to the team’s success in winning the US Club Soccer 2018 U19 Super Group National Championship.

He made his first-team debut on May 22, 2022, in a match against Seattle Sounders FC.
