Early Life and Background

Cole Ragans was born in Tallahassee, Florida, where he attended North Florida Christian High School. During his senior season, he showcased his talent by achieving a remarkable 9–0 record with a 0.90 earned run average (ERA) and striking out 104 batters over 70 innings. His impressive high school performance led him to commit to play college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles.

Ragans was drafted by the Texas Rangers with the 30th overall selection in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Rangers for a signing bonus of $2,003,400. After signing, he began his professional career with the AZL Rangers in the Rookie-level Arizona League, where he posted a 4.70 ERA in 7+2⁄3 innings. Breakthrough (2023-2024)

On June 30, 2023, Ragans was traded to the Kansas City Royals, where he transitioned from a bullpen role to a starting pitcher. His performance improved significantly, and he received the American League Pitcher of the Month Award for August 2023. In 2024, Ragans achieved a 3.28 ERA over 19 starts and was selected for his first All-Star Game.
