Connor Seabold Bio
Connor Seabold (born January 24, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a member of the Kansas City Royals organization of Major League Baseball (MLB). A right-handed pitcher who also bats right-handed, Seabold has spent parts of seven major league seasons moving between starting and relief roles across multiple organizations. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds, he has pitched in MLB for the Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers, and Toronto Blue Jays, and spent one season in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) League with the Samsung Lions.
Drafted in 2017 by the Philadelphia Phillies out of California State University, Fullerton, Seabold reached the majors three years later and has since built a journeyman career marked by sharp minor league results and inconsistent major league output. His career has included a productive overseas stint, several waiver moves, and recurring trips between Triple-A and the major league roster.
Early Life and Background
Connor Seabold grew up in the Newport Beach area of Southern California, where he attended Newport Harbor High School. As a junior in 2013, he posted a 2–6 win–loss record with a 1.97 earned run average (ERA), and the following year he struck out 57 batters in 46 innings while pitching to a 3.80 ERA. His senior performance drew the attention of professional scouts, and the Baltimore Orioles selected him in the 19th round of the 2014 MLB draft. Seabold declined to sign with Baltimore, choosing instead to honor his college commitment and continue developing as a pitcher.
Off the field, Seabold has two younger brothers, Cade and Carson. Their mother died in August 2015 at age 45 following a battle with cancer, an event that occurred during his early college years. Family support has remained part of his story as he has navigated a career that frequently takes him across organizations and, for one season, overseas.
Path to Professional Baseball
Seabold enrolled at California State University, Fullerton, where he played college baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. As a freshman in 2015, he appeared in 22 games with 11 starts, going 5–4 with a 3.26 ERA in 69 innings while striking out 76 batters against only 12 walks. The following summer he pitched in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox and helped the club win the league championship.
In 2016, Seabold became the Titans’ Friday night starter about a month into the season and earned All-Big West Conference second team recognition after going 7–6 with a 2.48 ERA across 16 games. As a junior in 2017, he went 11–5 with a 2.96 ERA and was named to the All-Big West Conference first team, cementing his status as one of the top college arms available in that year’s draft.

On August 10, the Atlanta Braves claimed him off waivers, and he appeared in four games for Atlanta, struggling to a 9.82 ERA before being designated for assignment on September 22. He cleared waivers, was sent outright to the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers on September 24, and elected free agency on November 2.

On January 21, 2026, Seabold signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays but was released prior to Opening Day on March 21. Two days later he signed a split contract with the Detroit Tigers, made the active roster out of spring training, and posted a 1–0 record with a 3.45 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 15 and two-thirds innings across 11 appearances before landing on the 15-day injured list with an ankle injury on April 26. Detroit designated him for assignment on May 24, and on May 27 the Toronto Blue Jays acquired him in exchange for Juanmi Vasquez.
With Toronto, Seabold struggled to an 8.10 ERA across five appearances before being designated for assignment on June 10. On June 15, 2026, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Denis Samudio and cash considerations, joining his eighth major league organization.

Connor Seabold Family
Family Background and Personal Life
Connor Seabold has two younger brothers, Cade and Carson, who have been part of his support system throughout his baseball career. Their mother died in August 2015 at age 45 following a battle with cancer, an event that occurred while Seabold was a college pitcher at Cal State Fullerton. 2025 Season Performance
The 2025 season was a year of movement for Connor Seabold. After signing a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays in February, he opened the year at Triple-A Durham before earning a major league call-up in May and posting a 1.35 ERA in three appearances for Tampa Bay. He was designated for assignment in early August and quickly claimed by the Atlanta Braves, where results were less favorable, leading to another designation in late September and an outright assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Seabold elected free agency in early November 2025, ending his second straight year in which he wore multiple major league uniforms. Despite uneven big league results, he remained healthy enough to log innings at both the Triple-A and major league levels.
Looking ahead, Seabold carried his free agency into the 2026 calendar, where he has since signed with the Detroit Tigers, been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, and landed with the Kansas City Royals. His 2025 experience underscored both the volatility of his major league opportunities and the durability that has kept him on major league rosters across multiple organizations.
