His performance earned him a spot on the White Sox’s 40-man roster on November 14, 2023, protecting him from the Rule 5 draft.

Breakthrough (2024-Present)

Mena’s breakthrough came when he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on February 3, 2024, in exchange for Dominic Fletcher. He began the 2024 season with the Triple-A Reno Aces but was promoted to the major leagues on July 3, 2024. In his MLB debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mena allowed four runs on four hits with two strikeouts over three innings. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a right forearm strain, which was announced on August 2, 2024.
