Equanimeous St. Brown was born on September 30, 1996, in Placentia, California. He attended Servite High School in Anaheim, where he played high school football for the Friars football team. As a 4-star wide receiver recruit, he committed to the University of Notre Dame to play college football, choosing it over offers from several other universities, including Arizona State and LSU. His early exposure to football and his family’s support played a significant role in his development as an athlete.

St. Brown played at Notre Dame from 2015 to 2017 under head coach Brian Kelly. He had a successful college career, finishing with 123 receptions for 2,193 yards and 19 touchdowns.
