Early Life and Background

Harris English was born in Valdosta, Georgia, where he developed an early passion for golf. He attended The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, graduating in 2007. During his time at Baylor, English showcased his talent by winning the Tennessee individual state title in 2005 and contributing to four Tennessee team state titles from 2004 to 2007. His impressive performance in high school golf led him to commit to the University of Georgia in Athens, where he played on the Bulldog golf team and graduated in 2011 with a business degree.

Path to Golf

As an amateur, Harris English participated in two Nationwide Tour events in 2011, including the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational, which he won. This victory made him only the third amateur to win on the Tour, following Daniel Summerhays and Russell Henley. After playing in the Walker Cup in 2011, he turned professional in September of the same year. His debut came at the Nationwide Tour’s Soboba Golf Classic, where he nearly won his second event, the WNB Golf Classic, but lost in a playoff to Danny Lee.
