Jagger Firkus (born April 29, 2004) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect under contract to the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has been nicknamed the ‘Firkus Circus.’
Early Life and Background
Jagger Firkus was born in Irma, Alberta, Canada. Growing up in a hockey-loving community, he was exposed to the sport at an early age, which fostered his passion for the game. His journey in hockey began with the Lloydminster Bobcats, where he played bantam hockey from 2017 to 2021. This formative experience set the stage for his future in the sport.
Path to Hockey
Firkus was selected 82nd overall in the 2019 Western Hockey League (WHL) bantam draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors. He made his major junior debut with the Warriors in the 2019-20 season. Over the next few years, he developed into a key contributor for the team, showcasing his skills and determination. In the 2021-22 season, he collected 80 points, including 36 goals and 44 assists, which helped the Warriors reach the WHL Playoffs.
