Jo Adell Bio
Jordon Scott Adell (born April 8, 1999) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020 and has since developed into a power-hitting corner outfielder for the franchise. Known for his strong arm and improving defense in right field, Adell wears jersey number 7 for the Angels.
Early Life and Background
Adell grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated from Ballard High School in 2017. He grew up in a sports-oriented household, with his father Scott Adell a former college football player and his mother Nicole W. Adell a doctor. He also has an older sister named Jessica, who was a nationally recognized softball player. Growing up, Adell experienced recurring seizures because of epilepsy, which kept him from playing football and pushed him toward focusing on baseball.
Path to Professional Baseball
After his freshman year in 2014, Adell committed to the University of Louisville to play college baseball, becoming one of the top amateur prospects in the country. As a junior in 2016, he hit .449 with 11 home runs and 44 runs batted in, while also posting a 1.55 earned run average and 56 strikeouts as a pitcher. Draft and Minors (2017–2019)
The Los Angeles Angels selected Adell with the tenth overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft. He began his professional career in June 2017 with the AZL Angels, batting .288 with four home runs and 10 stolen bases before a promotion to the Orem Owlz, where he hit .376 in 18 games.
