As a junior, he recorded 60 tackles, 15.5 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one recovery, earning second-team All-USA Virginia honors from USA Today and first-team All-IAC. In his senior year, Vilain made 45 tackles and eight sacks, along with a fumble recovery for a touchdown. His performance earned him first-team All-USA honors from USA Today, first-team All-Met recognition from The Washington Post, and first-team All-IAC accolades. Path to American Football
After graduating from Episcopal High School, Luiji Vilain committed to the University of Michigan to play college football. In his first two seasons (2017 and 2018), he did not see any game action but was recognized as an Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection in 2018. Before his junior year, he moved from Toronto to the United States. In 2019, as a junior, he played in seven games as a defensive lineman, recording seven tackles, one tackle-for-loss, one sack, and one forced fumble, earning his first varsity letter. In the 2020 season, he appeared in five games, recording four tackles for a second varsity letter. In 2021, Vilain announced his intention to transfer to Wake Forest for his fifth season, benefiting from an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At Wake Forest, he recorded a team-leading 9.0 sacks and 10.0 tackles-for-loss in 2021, showcasing his skills and potential.

After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Luiji Vilain was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings. His former teammate at Michigan, Kwity Paye, praised Vilain’s talent, stating that the Vikings had acquired a significant asset. Vilain had a solid training camp and impressed during the preseason, making the Vikings’ final roster. However, he only appeared in three games for Minnesota in 2022, totaling four tackles. He was waived on August 29, 2023, and subsequently signed to the practice squad the following day.
