Matthew Colburn II was born on July 27, 1997, in Irmo, South Carolina. He attended Dutch Fork High School, where he made a significant impact on the football field. During his junior year, he set school records by rushing for 2,448 yards and scoring 40 touchdowns. His senior year was equally impressive, as he ran for 1,705 yards and scored 24 touchdowns, earning the title of 2014 SC “Mr. Football.” Colburn initially committed to play at the University of Louisville but was informed shortly before signing day that there was no room for him. Consequently, he signed with Wake Forest University, turning down offers from other schools such as Marshall, Georgia Southern, and Furman.
At Wake Forest, Colburn made an immediate impact. In his debut against Elon University, he rushed for 38 yards on 12 carries and scored his first career touchdown. He continued to excel, leading the team with 51 rushing yards against Florida State University. As a sophomore, he led the team with 626 rushing yards and had a standout performance against Delaware, where he made a career-high 24 carries for 118 yards and scored a touchdown. Path to American Football

After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, Matthew Colburn II signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent. However, he was waived during the final roster cuts on August 30, 2019. In 2020, Colburn joined the New York Guardians of the XFL, where he played in two games, making one rush attempt for six yards. Later that year, he played for the Blues of The Spring League, showcasing his skills and gaining almost 200 yards in two games.
