Early Life and Background
Mekhi Garner was born in Dallas, Texas. He attended Poteet High School in Mesquite, where he played as a defensive back. Garner initially committed to play college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders but ultimately chose to start his collegiate career at Navarro College.

After one season at Navarro, he transferred to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. In his first season at Louisiana, he played in two games and recorded four tackles. Garner was initially a backup at the start of the 2020 season but was thrust into a starting role due to COVID-19 protocols affecting the team. He finished that season with 27 tackles, three interceptions, and seven pass breakups, earning honorable mention all-conference honors.

Early Career (2023)
After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Mekhi Garner signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. On August 29, 2023, he was released due to final roster cuts but was re-signed to the practice squad the following day. He signed a reserve/future contract on January 18, 2024, but was waived with an injury designation on August 17. Garner was re-signed to the Eagles’ practice squad on December 31, 2024, but was released on January 9, 2025.
Breakthrough (2025)
In March 2025, Garner signed with the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League (UFL) but was released shortly after. Later that year, on August 12, he signed with the Chicago Bears. However, he was waived as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad the following day, only to be released again on August 28.
