Michael Rose Jr. was born in Brecksville, Ohio. He attended Brecksville–Broadview Heights High School, where he excelled in both basketball and football. During his junior year, he recorded 82 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, and two interceptions, earning second-team All-Suburban League honors. In his senior season, he had 53 tackles and 10 tackles for loss, which led to first-team all-conference recognition. After receiving a late scholarship offer, Rose committed to Iowa State University, having previously been committed to Ball State.
