Rob Havenstein Bio

Rob Havenstein (born May 13, 1992) is an American professional football offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Havenstein played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. Following the retirement of Aaron Donald in March 2024, Havenstein and long snapper Jake McQuaide are the last remaining Rams players from the franchise’s time in St. Louis that are still with the team.

Early Life and Background

Rob Havenstein was born in Mount Airy, Maryland. He attended Linganore High School in Frederick, Maryland, where he began to develop his skills in football. His talent on the field led him to receive numerous offers from Power 5 colleges. Ultimately, he committed to the University of Wisconsin-Madison on October 21, 2009, where he would further hone his abilities as an offensive lineman.

Path to American Football

At the University of Wisconsin, Rob Havenstein played on the offensive line as a right tackle from 2010 through 2014. During his college career, he participated in 54 games, starting in 42 of them. He was a redshirt freshman in 2010 and played in 12 games in 2011. In 2013, he earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors, and by the end of the 2014 season, he was recognized as a consensus First-Team All-Big Ten and First-Team All-American. His performance in college culminated in an invitation to the 2015 Senior Bowl, showcasing his readiness for the professional level.

Early Career (2015–2017)

Rob Havenstein was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the second round as the 57th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he made an immediate impact by starting 13 games at right tackle without allowing a sack. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the Pro Football Writers of America’s All-Rookie Team alongside teammate Todd Gurley. In the 2016 season, he continued to solidify his position, starting 15 games.

Breakthrough (2018–2021)

In 2018, Havenstein signed a four-year contract extension with the Rams, which allowed him to continue as a key player on the offensive line. He started all 16 games that season, contributing to the team’s success as they reached Super Bowl LIII, although they ultimately lost to the New England Patriots. The following season, he faced a setback with a knee injury that limited his participation, but he bounced back in 2020, starting all 16 regular season games and both postseason games. Havenstein’s career reached a pinnacle in the 2021 season when he played a crucial role in the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
