Ryan Rolison Bio
Ryan Perry Rolison (born July 11, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Colorado Rockies. Rolison played college baseball for the Ole Miss Rebels and was selected by the Rockies in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2025.
Early Life and Background
Ryan Rolison was born in Jackson, Tennessee, where he attended the University School of Jackson. He showed exceptional talent in baseball from a young age. As a junior in high school, he compiled an impressive 0.74 earned run average (ERA) with 104 strikeouts. His senior year was even more remarkable, finishing with a perfect 9–0 record in nine starts, striking out 108 batters in 58 innings. This performance earned him the title of Tennessee’s DII-A Mr. Baseball. After being selected by the San Diego Padres in the 37th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, he opted to further his education and baseball career at the University of Mississippi.
Path to Baseball
At the University of Mississippi, Rolison made a significant impact as a freshman in 2017, transitioning from the bullpen to the starting rotation. He ended the season with a 6–3 record and a 3.06 ERA, which earned him a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman team and freshman All-American honors. Following his freshman year, he played for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he excelled with a 4–0 record and a 1.92 ERA, earning all-star recognition. In his sophomore season in 2018, Rolison continued to impress, posting a 10–4 record with 120 strikeouts over 17 appearances.

Ryan Rolison was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft, being the 22nd overall pick. He signed with the Rockies for a $2.9 million signing bonus and made his professional debut with the Grand Junction Rockies in the Rookie-level Pioneer League. In his first season, he recorded a 0–1 record with a 1.86 ERA across nine starts. Rolison began the 2019 season with the Asheville Tourists in the Single-A South Atlantic League before being promoted to the Lancaster JetHawks in the High-A California League. He was selected to participate in the All-Star Game while with the JetHawks. In 2020, he did not play due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he returned to action in 2021 with the Hartford Yard Goats in the Double-A Northeast.

He recorded his first career win on August 16, 2025, tossing a scoreless inning of relief against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
