Ryan Todd Tverberg is a Canadian professional ice hockey center for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). Path to Hockey
Tverberg began his hockey journey with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, where he played Junior A hockey. His initial season was challenging, as he went scoreless in 14 games. After being drafted, Ryan Tverberg faced the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic but began attending the University of Connecticut in the fall of 2020. During his freshman year, he played in 14 of 23 games and recorded seven points. His sophomore season marked a turning point as he became a full-time participant, leading the team with 14 goals and helping UConn reach the Hockey East Championship Game for the first time in program history. His strong performance earned him a spot on the East All-American second team.
Breakthrough (2023–Present)
Following his junior season with the University of Connecticut in 2022-23, Tverberg signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 15, 2023. He was immediately signed to a professional tryout contract to join the Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the season. Tverberg attended the Maple Leafs’ 2023 training camp, but he was assigned to the Marlies to start the 2023-24 season.
