Williams attended Marbury High School, where he initially played basketball before transferring to Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama. At Robert E. Lee, he played defensive line and had the opportunity to play alongside future professional football player Henry Ruggs III.

After high school, Williams enrolled at Northeast Mississippi Community College. During his freshman year in 2017, he appeared in nine games, collecting 53 tackles, 11 for loss, and 3.5 sacks. His performance earned him first-team NJCAA All-American honors and recognition as the MACJC Defensive Lineman of the Year.
