Early Life and Background
Tye Kartye was born on April 30, 2001, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in a region with a rich hockey culture, he was exposed to the sport from a young age. Path to Hockey
After his impressive performance in junior hockey, Tye Kartye was selected in the eighth round (158th overall) in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He played three seasons for the Greyhounds, starting in the 2018–19 season. Despite his efforts, he was passed over during the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. However, he continued to develop his skills, recording 25 goals and 28 assists in the 2020–21 season and improving to 45 goals and 34 assists in 63 games during the 2021–22 season. On March 1, 2022, Tye Kartye signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Seattle Kraken. During the 2022–23 season, he played for the Coachella Valley Firebirds, where he recorded 28 goals and 29 assists in 72 games. His performance led him to be the top rookie scorer in the league with 57 points, and he was one of only eight rookies to play in all 72 games during the regular season. Following this successful season, he was awarded the Dudley ‘Red’ Garrett Memorial Award and named to the AHL Rookie All-Star team.

Tye Kartye’s breakthrough moment came on April 16, 2023, when he was recalled by the Seattle Kraken. He made his NHL debut on April 26, 2023, in Game 5 of the Western Conference first round against the Colorado Avalanche during the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs.
