In his senior year, he set a school and Bay Rivers District record by throwing for 388 yards and four touchdowns in his first game. He also recorded 50 tackles and five interceptions during the season. Drew played as the team’s quarterback, throwing for 1,447 yards and 14 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,154 yards and 18 touchdowns. His impressive high school performance led him to commit to play college football at James Madison University.

Path to American Football

Drew played two seasons with the James Madison Dukes in 2018 and 2019, where he totaled nine tackles and two pass deflections in eleven games. After his time at James Madison, he transferred to Virginia State University in 2021. During the 2023 season, Drew made a significant impact, tallying 16 pass deflections and six interceptions, which earned him recognition as an AFCA first-team All-American. He concluded his three-year career at Virginia State with 37 pass deflections, 11 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown. Drew went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent. Unfortunately, he was waived on August 27, 2024, before the start of the regular season. Shortly after, he was signed to the practice roster of the Toronto Argonauts on September 23, 2024, where he remained through the team’s playoff run and their victory in the 111th Grey Cup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

In December 2024, Drew signed with the DC Defenders of the United Football League (UFL), where he played until August 2025. He was then signed back to the Toronto Argonauts’ practice roster on August 12, 2025, and was promoted to the active roster on August 31, 2025.
