The Halifax Thunderbirds compete in the NLL’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, playing home games at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Originally established in 1995 as the Rochester Knighthawks, the franchise relocated to Halifax in 2019 and began play under the Thunderbirds name in 2020. The team captured the Atlantic Division championship in their inaugural 2020 season with a 9-7 record and qualified for the postseason in four consecutive seasons from 2022 through 2025. Led by head coach Mike Accursi, the Thunderbirds carry forward the legacy of five NLL championships won during their Rochester era, establishing themselves as consistent contenders in professional box lacrosse.
