James Outman is an American professional baseball center fielder whose MLB career began with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022. A seventh-round pick in the 2018 draft out of Sacramento State, he debuted with a home run off Germán Márquez and became the first Dodgers player since Casey Stengel in 1912 to reach base seven or more times in his first two games. Outman started 2023 as the Dodgers’ opening day center fielder, hit two multi-homer games against the Chicago Cubs, and was named National League Rookie of the Month for April. After being traded to the Minnesota Twins in July 2025, he was claimed by the Detroit Tigers in June 2026.
