San Diego Wave FC is a professional women’s soccer team based in San Diego, California, competing in the NWSL as a 2021 expansion franchise that began play in 2022. The club plays its home matches at Snapdragon Stadium, where it set an NWSL single-game attendance record of 32,000 during its 2022 opener. San Diego Wave FC captured the NWSL Shield in 2023 with the league’s best regular-season record and won the NWSL Challenge Cup in 2024. Players including Naomi Girma and Alex Morgan have earned major individual honors while with the team. Following a transitional 2024 season, Jonas Eidevall was appointed head coach in January 2025 as the Wave aim to return to title contention.
