Charlotte Independence is an American soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, competing in USL League One, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. Founded in 2014, they play home games at American Legion Memorial Stadium with a capacity of 10,500. The club is nicknamed "The Jacks," inspired by Captain James Jack linked to the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. The team's colors are navy, blue, and parchment. Head coach Mike Jeffries has managed the team for most of its existence while also serving as the general manager. The Independence maintains a youth affiliation that fosters a pathway for young players to professional soccer.
