TxWes Pickleball Club Welcomes New Players for World Pickleball Day

TxWes Pickleball Club Welcomes New Players: On October 9, the Texas Wesleyan Pickleball Club took to the Kay Granger Mall to invite students to join in the festivities of World Pickleball Day. The event aimed to participate potential members through a fun and interactive pickleball game that showed the sport’s request.

Engaging Activities for All

Participants were challenged to hit a pickleball into two containers set approximately 15 yards away. Each player had two attempts, and successful shots earned them a pickle—a fun twist that enthusiastic participants.

Junior physical education major Zed Fulmer, the club’s president, directed the event, showing the importance of promoting pickleball among students.

“We are out here to promote pickleball and encourage others to come out and play with us.”

“Being a physical education major, I am always trying to find a way to keep people moving, and pickleball is the perfect solution.”-(Fulmer)

Student Reactions Highlight the Fun

Among those participating was Jayden Williams, a junior majoring in sports communication, who found himself involved in the excitement of the game.

“In the future, I could see myself attending a meeting.”

“Hitting the ball was way harder than I thought it would be.”-(Williams)

Kayla Nguyen, a freshman studying computer science, was so engaged that she continued to define her skills even after her two attempts.

“This was an amazing interaction with a great host.”

“It was very creative giving out pickle prizes to winners.”-(Nguyen)

Upcoming Tournament Promises More Action

The TxWes Pickleball Club is not stopping here. They are hosting a tournament open to all students at 9 a.m. on October 25 at the TxWes tennis courts next to West Village. Interested participants can register through a provided Google form.
