Pickleball Tournament in Brownstown Brings Excitement with Unique Format

Pickleball Tournament in Brownstown: The Brownstown Pickleball Association successfully hosted its first event on the newly constructed pickleball courts. With clear skies and a gentle breeze, the event welcomed players eager to show their skills in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.

Competitive Pickleball Spirit

The pickleball tournament utilized a scramble round-robin format, allowing each player to team up with every other participant in their respective divisions. This format not only fostered camaraderie among players but also intensified the competitive spirit that defined the day.

Women’s Intermediate Division

In the women’s intermediate division, Tracy Westfall claimed first place, marking a significant achievement in her tournament history. Dianne Altemeyer secured the second spot, followed closely by Sue Wildemann in third.

Meanwhile, in the women’s recreational division, Dee Ernest emerged victorious, with Miss Thompson and Donna Griffith rounding out the top three.

Men’s A and B Pool Standouts

The men’s A pool saw Matthew Beaverson take home first place, with David Stout finishing in second and Steven Acton in third.

The men’s B pool featured Max Goecker in first place, followed by Dustin Kick and Troy Thompson, who secured second and third, respectively.

A First-Time Win

Reflecting on her victory, Tracy Westfall expressed her excitement, noting her previous tournament experiences.

“I played with a great group of women and the competition was very even. Nancy Sterling did a great job organizing the event and I’m looking forward to bigger tournaments.” – (Tracy Westfall)

Community Support and Sponsorship

Awards were generously sponsored by Marion-Kay Spices, Diadem Sports, Chris Snodgrass with Lifelink AED Specialists, and the Brownstown Pickleball Association.

Additionally, a drawing for extra prizes, sponsored by The People’s Bank and Parker Dental, added to the day’s excitement, with winners including Dustin Kick, Missy Thompson, and Patti Terrell.

Funds for a Good Cause

Funds raised during the tournament will benefit the Medora Lion’s Club charities and support the Brownstown Pickleball Association’s ongoing efforts for court maintenance and future improvements. “I am very grateful to our sponsors and everyone who participated.” said Nancy Sterling, president of the Brownstown Pickleball Association.
