Brandon Alexander Jones, born on February 18, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, driving the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing. Over the course of his career, Jones has also competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series, building a reputation as a consistent competitor in NASCAR’s development ladder.
Early Life and Background
Brandon Jones was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in a family with strong ties to American business and motorsports. He is the son of JR Jones, who has served as President and CEO of Rheem Comfort Products. Through his father’s role, Jones has been connected to a brand that has sponsored teams across NASCAR, including his own efforts in the Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series.
Jones began racing in 2010 at age 13, working under the guidance of short track racer Bubba Gale and his son, former Kevin Harvick Inc. development driver Cale Gale. He raced full-time in 2011 in the pro truck divisions at Lanier Raceplex and Gresham Motorsports Park in Georgia, winning track points championships at both facilities. He later graduated from Lake Norman High School in Mooresville, North Carolina, a town often associated with NASCAR teams and drivers.
Path to NASCAR
In 2012, Jones moved into late models for Eddie Sharp Racing, competing in the Pro All Stars Series and United Auto Racing Association series. That same year, he made his debut in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. At fifteen, he signed with Turner Motorsports to run a full UARA season, the PASS Series, K&N East events, and his first national series race in the Camping World Truck Series at Bristol Motor Speedway.
By 2014, Jones had become a full-time K&N Pro Series East competitor, while also running an expanded Truck Series schedule and select ARCA events. He won his debut ARCA race at Winchester Speedway and added a second ARCA win at Indianapolis Raceway Park, along with a K&N East win at Iowa Speedway. Those results caught the attention of top NASCAR teams and set the stage for his move to the national series.

His development years produced a fourth-place finish in the K&N Pro Series East standings and a Truck Series best of fourth at Dover. He also scored a win in the ARCA Racing Series at Winchester Speedway during this period.
Later in 2014, Jones joined Richard Childress Racing for the remaining K&N East races and ran two additional Truck events for GMS Racing in the No. 33 truck. Those opportunities gave him valuable seat time in higher-profile equipment and helped him secure a part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series deal with RCR for 2015.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Breakthrough (2015-2019)
Richard Childress Racing signed Jones to a part-time Xfinity Series schedule in 2015, sharing the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro with Austin Dillon and Paul Menard. He finished fifth at Kentucky in his final race of the campaign, earning his first top five in the series. On September 24, RCR announced that Jones would run the full Xfinity Series schedule in 2016, and he responded by qualifying for the Playoffs and finishing tenth in points.
After moving to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2018, Jones reached the Playoffs for two straight seasons. In 2019, he won his first Xfinity Series race at Kansas Speedway, the Kansas Lottery 300, taking the lead late and holding on for the victory. The breakthrough cemented his place as a weekly contender and set the foundation for his most successful season to come.

In 2020, he won three races, including Phoenix, Kansas, and Darlington, and advanced to the Round of 8 in the Playoffs before being eliminated at Texas. He finished a career-best sixth in the final standings that year.
His final JGR season came in 2022, when he won at Martinsville in the spring after a late pass on Ty Gibbs. Later in the year at the same track, Jones was leading the playoff race in overtime when Gibbs made contact from behind, sending him to a 23rd-place finish and ending his title hopes. He finished eighth in points, and during the same year, he also won three of five ARCA Menards Series starts for JGR.
Return to Joe Gibbs Racing (2025-Present)
For the 2025 season, Jones returned to Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 20 car. After a 37th-place finish at the Daytona opener, he bounced back with a dominant win at Darlington, snapping a 98-race winless streak by more than ten car lengths. He added another victory at Kansas during the Playoffs and was running fifth in the final standings.
