Ty Majeski Bio

Tyler Brad Majeski, known professionally as Ty Majeski, is an American professional stock car racing driver born on August 18, 1994, in Seymour, Wisconsin. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 88 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing, and he is also active in late model racing across the country. Majeski is the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and one of the most decorated short track racers of his generation. Over the course of his career, he has built a reputation as a patient, technically skilled driver who excels on short tracks and superspeedways alike.

Early Life and Background

Majeski was raised in Seymour, Wisconsin, by his parents, Brad and Susan Majeski. He began racing as a nine-year-old on dirt karts in 2004 at Hi-Go Raceway near his hometown. His first win came on his tenth birthday, and within his first eight races he had won three features. Between 2005 and 2009, Majeski won five track titles and 84 features at karting venues in Wisconsin, including GSR Kartway near Clintonville and Meadowview Kartway near Hilbert. By the time he turned 15, he had already won a national championship in the Mid-American National Series and six national karting titles.

Majeski graduated from Seymour Community High School in 2013 and later attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied mechanical engineering. In 2009, after a strong showing at the National Indoor Championship at Batesville, Mississippi, he caught the attention of Bobby Waltrip, the brother of Darrell and Michael Waltrip. Waltrip arranged for Majeski to test an asphalt late model at Hickory Motor Speedway, where he quickly matched the lap times of the car’s regular driver. Although the Waltrip family encouraged him to move to North Carolina, his family chose to remain in Wisconsin, and Majeski continued his development on the local short track circuit.

Path to NASCAR

Majeski’s path to NASCAR ran through the short tracks of the upper Midwest. He began racing limited late models in Wisconsin in 2010, working with Pathfinder Racing Chassis and JJ Motorsports as a teammate to Ross Kenseth. In 2011, he joined the Big 8 Late Model Series, winning three races including a feature at the National Short Track Championship weekend at Rockford Speedway. By 2012, he had progressed to Super Late Models, and in 2013 he recorded his first ARCA Midwest Tour pole position and won three races during the Oktoberfest weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

His four consecutive ARCA Midwest Tour championships from 2014 through 2017, capped by a fifth title in 2021, established him as the face of the series. In May 2016, Majeski joined Roush Fenway Racing’s driver development program and was named to the NASCAR Next class the following day. He made his first ARCA Menards Series start in June 2016 and earned the inaugural Kulwicki Driver Development Program award in 2015. Those results opened the door to national NASCAR competition.

Ty Majeski Career

Early Career (2010-2015)

Majeski’s early career was built almost entirely on Wisconsin short tracks. In 2010, he raced limited late models at Columbus 151 Speedway, Dells Raceway Park, and Madison International Speedway with former NASCAR Busch Series driver Jason Schuler serving as his crew chief. He won three Big 8 Late Model Series races in 2011, including a victory at Rockford Speedway during the National Short Track Championship weekend. By 2012, he had moved into Super Late Models, and in 2013 he won three Oktoberfest features at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway and earned his first ARCA Midwest Tour pole at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

In 2014, Majeski captured the ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year award and the series championship, becoming its youngest champion. He won his first tour victory at Illiana Motor Speedway in May 2014 and followed it with a win at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in July. He finished the year with five victories in 35 starts. The following season, he was named one of seven finalists for the inaugural Kulwicki Driver Development Program and was ultimately selected as the winner, receiving $7,777 to support his career.

NASCAR Xfinity Series (2017-2018)

Majeski made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Iowa Speedway in June 2017, driving the No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford. He qualified tenth and ran as high as fifth before an accident with Kyle Benjamin ended his day early. He returned later that season at Iowa and at the Homestead-Miami finale. In 2018, Roush confirmed he would share the No. 60 entry with Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric, and Majeski recorded his first top-ten Xfinity result with a seventh-place finish at Iowa.

Across 15 total Xfinity Series starts, Majeski earned three top-ten finishes and no wins or poles. His best season result came in 2018, when he finished 34th in the final standings. When Roush Fenway Racing closed its Xfinity program at the end of 2018, Majeski was left without a national series ride and returned to ARCA competition to keep his career moving forward.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (2019-Present)

Majeski made his Truck Series debut in November 2019 at Phoenix Raceway, driving the No. 44 for Niece Motorsports. In December 2019, he was announced as the full-time driver of the team’s No. 45 entry for the 2020 season, replacing Ross Chastain. His rookie campaign was cut short in September 2020 when Trevor Bayne took over the seat midseason. In 2021, Majeski joined ThorSport Racing, running a part-time schedule in the No. 66, and then moved into the truck full-time in 2022.

The 2022 season marked his Truck Series breakthrough. Driving the No. 66 full-time, he made the playoffs with seven top-fives and ten top-tens, then won at Bristol and Homestead to lock himself into the Championship 4. He finished fourth in the final standings. In 2023, now behind the wheel of the No. 98, he won the playoff opener at Indianapolis and advanced to the Round of 8 before being eliminated at Homestead. In 2024, Majeski won at Indianapolis and Richmond during the regular season and stayed consistent through the playoffs. He clinched his first Truck Series championship at Phoenix, capping a storybook rise from Wisconsin short tracks to a national series title.

ThorSport Racing Era (2021-Present)

Majeski joined ThorSport Racing in 2021 and quickly became a central figure in the organization’s Truck Series program. After running a part-time slate in 2021, he went full-time in 2022, posting his breakthrough wins at Bristol and Homestead. In 2023, he was paired with crew chief Joe Shear Jr., and together they pushed deeper into the playoffs before a penalty in August led to a four-race suspension for Shear and a deduction of 75 owner and driver points. Despite the setback, Majeski won at Indianapolis in the playoff opener and reached the Round of 8.

His momentum carried into 2024, when he won the Truck Series championship at Phoenix with a third victory of the season. The 2025 title defense began modestly, but Majeski remained consistent enough to make the playoffs and reached the Championship 4 for the second consecutive year and the third time in four seasons. He finished second in the final 2025 standings at Phoenix. In August 2025, ThorSport announced that Majeski would move into the No. 88 truck for the 2026 season, replacing the retiring Matt Crafton.

Driving Style and Strengths

Majeski is widely regarded as one of the most technically precise short track racers in the NASCAR pipeline. His mechanical engineering background at the University of Wisconsin-Madison gives him a strong feel for setup changes, and he communicates clearly with his crew chief and engineering staff. He is at his best on flat short tracks and intermediates where tire management and patience are rewarded, and his late-race race craft has produced several last-lap passes. He is also effective in the closing laps of superspeedway events, using clean air and well-timed restarts to stay near the front.

Notable Races and Milestones

Signature moments include his first Truck Series win at Bristol in 2022, his win at Indianapolis in the 2023 playoff opener, and his championship-clinching victory at Phoenix in November 2024. He also won the prestigious Snowball Derby in 2020 and 2023, and he captured the 2019 ARCA Menards Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway after a late-race pass on Michael Self. His 100th Super Late Model victory came in February 2020 during Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway.

Ty Majeski Career Wins

Across NASCAR’s national series, Majeski has built a strong record highlighted by a Craftsman Truck Series championship and six total Truck Series victories. He also has three ARCA Menards Series wins to his credit, along with a strong resume in the Xfinity Series, where he never won but did record three top-ten finishes. His Truck Series totals include 13 poles and 72 top-ten finishes, while his ARCA Menards Series totals include three wins and 13 top-ten finishes.

Craftsman Truck Series Highlights

Majeski’s first Truck Series win came in 2022 at Bristol Motor Speedway, and he added a second that season at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In 2023, he opened the playoffs with a win at Indianapolis Raceway Park. In 2024, he swept regular-season victories at Indianapolis and Richmond, then sealed the championship with a third win at Phoenix. He finished second in the 2025 standings after reaching the Championship 4 for the second straight year. Across 6 wins, 72 top-tens, and 13 poles, Majeski has become one of the most consistent drivers in the series.

Other Wins and Performances

Outside the Truck Series, Majeski has been a dominant force on the short track scene. He has won the Snowball Derby twice, in 2020 and 2023, and he has captured the ARCA Midwest Tour championship a record five times in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2021. He was the 2023 ASA Stars National Tour champion and a multi-time winner of major events including the Slinger Nationals, the Oktoberfest at LaCrosse, the Dixieland 250, the Rattler 250, and the Florida Governor’s Cup.

Ty Majeski Family

Family Background and Racing Lineage

Majeski was raised in Seymour, Wisconsin, by his parents, Brad and Susan Majeski, who supported his early racing career by taking him to local kart tracks across the region. While the Majeski family is not a multi-generational racing dynasty, the family’s encouragement played a major role in his development, allowing him to travel the Midwest karting scene as a child and progress into late models as a teenager. His move into Roush Fenway Racing’s development program in 2016 and his later partnership with ThorSport Racing extended his professional network well beyond his family roots.

Personal Life

Majeski became engaged to Ali VanderLoop in August 2018, and the couple has been together since. After moving from Wisconsin to North Carolina in early 2017 to work as an engineer for Roush Fenway Racing, he relocated again to Sandusky, Ohio, when he joined ThorSport Racing in 2021, since the team’s shop is based there. He was the number one ranked oval player in the world on the online racing simulator iRacing from December 2016 until December 2021, and the platform has sponsored him in his racing career.

2025 Season Performance

The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season marked Majeski’s first full title defense after his 2024 championship. He opened the year with steady finishes and posted several top-five runs, but he went winless across the regular season. Despite the lack of trips to Victory Lane, his consistency kept him inside the playoff picture, and he entered the postseason riding a five-race top-ten streak. A late-race spin involving teammate Matt Crafton at Richmond cost him a likely win, but he continued to bank strong points finishes throughout the summer.

Through the playoffs, Majeski recorded a top-ten in every race, advancing to the Championship 4 for the second consecutive year and the third time in four seasons. He finished second at Phoenix in the championship finale, extending his top-ten streak to twelve straight races and clinching the runner-up spot in the final standings. In August 2025, ThorSport announced that Majeski would move to the No. 88 truck for the 2026 season, replacing the retiring Matt Crafton, setting up a new chapter with the team. The strong 2025 campaign reinforced his standing as one of the premier talents in the Truck Series garage.
