Israel Mobolaji Temitayo Odunayo Oluwafemi Owolabi Adesanya, born on 22 July 1989, is a Nigerian-New Zealand professional mixed martial artist, former kickboxer, and boxer. Competing in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), he is a former two-time UFC Middleweight Champion and also campaigns at Light Heavyweight. Known by the ring name “The Last Stylebender,” he trains out of Auckland, New Zealand, with City Kickboxing under head coach Eugene Bareman.

Israel Mobolaji Temitayo Odunayo Oluwafemi Owolabi Adesanya was born in Lagos, Nigeria, the eldest of five children, to his father Oluwafemi, an accountant, and his mother Taiwo, a nurse. Of Yoruba heritage, he attended Chrisland School in Opebi, where he joined a Taekwondo after-school club before being removed by his mother following an injury. In 1999, his family relocated to Ghana for ten months, and later settled in Rotorua, New Zealand, when he was ten so that he could access a well-recognised higher education.
He enrolled at Rotorua Boys’ High School, where he was bullied and was not particularly interested in sports, preferring Japanese anime such as Death Note and the manga series Naruto. Adesanya built a long winning streak across New Zealand, Australia, and China’s Wu Lin Feng circuit before entering the 2014 Kunlun Fight 80 kg tournament, where he lost a split decision in the semifinal to Simon Marcus. He then debuted in Glory at Glory 15 against Filip Verlinden, losing a unanimous decision, and captured back-to-back King in the Ring Cruiserweight tournament titles in New Zealand with a string of knockouts and decisions, including victories over Pati Afoa, Jamie Eades, and Mark Timms.
