Michael Page Bio

Michael Jerome Reece-Page, widely known as Michael “Venom” Page or MVP, is an English professional mixed martial artist born on 7 April 1987 in Westminster, London, England. He currently competes in the Welterweight and Middleweight divisions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), having joined the promotion in late 2023 after a lengthy run with Bellator MMA. Recognized across the mixed martial arts community for his unorthodox striking style, Page has also built a professional reputation as a kickboxer, boxer, and bare-knuckle boxer. Standing 191 cm tall with a 201 cm reach, he is regarded as one of the most distinctive and entertaining fighters in the sport.

Page is known for his flashy, movement-based approach, his theatrical in-cage celebrations, and his finishing power. A black belt in Kung Fu, he blends freestyle kickboxing and sport karate into a style that has earned him a global fan base. As of 30 September 2025, he holds a position inside the official UFC middleweight rankings.

Early Life and Background

Michael Jerome Reece-Page was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London to Curtis Page Sr. and Pauline Reece, both Lau Gar kung fu practitioners. His father was a British Telecom employee who hailed from Trinidad, while his mother worked as a nurse and was from Jamaica. Page is the maternal nephew of Lau Gar Master Stan Brown, who was also the instructor of his father. He grew up in a large martial arts household with nine siblings, three of whom are adopted, and several of his brothers and sisters also became kickboxing champions.

Page began training in Lau Gar at the age of three and competed in his first kickboxing tournament at the age of five. By the age of eight, he had committed seriously to competition, traveling to his first international tournament in Germany. He attended Quintin Kynaston School in St John’s Wood alongside Olympian judoka Ashley McKenzie. Inspired by martial arts films featuring Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung, he grew up near Edgware Road and Lisson Green before moving to the Queen’s Park area in 2003.

Path to MMA

Page compiled an extraordinary amateur and semi-professional kickboxing resume before transitioning to mixed martial arts. He won ten world championships in kickboxing and was crowned British champion more than 25 times. His first world title came at the US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in 1998 in Orlando, Florida, when he was 12 years old. He added medals at W.A.K.O. World Championships, W.A.K.O. Irish Open events, W.A.K.O. Austrian Classics, and the World Combat Games 2010 in Beijing, where he earned silver.

Dissatisfied with the politics and limited exposure of kickboxing associations, Page decided to cross over into mixed martial arts. He turned down an opportunity to train with the Great Britain Taekwondo team for Olympic qualification and instead began his MMA journey with London Shootfighters in July 2011, while cross-training Brazilian jiu-jitsu at Gracie Barra. He is represented by Paradigm Sports Management.
