Michael Page Questions UFC London Booking: “Feels Like Punishment”

Michael Page expressed frustration over his upcoming UFC fight, suggesting his booking for the UFC London event on March 21 at the O2 Arena feels like a form of punishment. Despite calling for a match since his victory over Jared Cannonier in August 2025, Page will face unranked Sam Patterson, a choice that contrasts with expectations of a higher-ranked adversary. This pairing raised questions about UFC’s intentions and Page’s current standing with the organization.

Insights from Michael Page on UFC’s Treatment

In an interview with MMAJunkie, Page conveyed his feelings of being undervalued by UFC’s decision-makers. He commented on the overall fight card for the London event, emphasizing Lerone Murphy’s deserving reputation while critiquing the lack of excitement across the card. Regarding his role on the card, Page stated,

“I definitely don’t feel like I’m in good favor with the UFC at the moment,”

Page said. He added,

“And I would have felt like a name like myself being on that card, I’m definitely going to be positioned as – I’m going to go and show out always and make noise as I always done, but I’m being positioned on the card in a weird way, and I’ve been given an opponent which is a bit of a weird opponent, as well. I just wanted to fight. I don’t really want to wait, so it was like, ‘Let’s just do it.’ It just feels like I’ve upset somebody.”

Career Overview and Recent Performances

Michael Page holds a 3-1 record in the UFC, with his only defeat coming in a close battle against Ian Machado Garry, a likely future No. 1 contender for the UFC Welterweight Championship. His victories include notable wins over Jared Cannonier, Sharabutdin Magomedov, and Kevin Holland. Despite this strong performance record, Page’s placement on the UFC London card has sparked debate among fans and analysts alike.

What This Means for Michael Page and UFC Fans

The matchup with Sam Patterson raises questions about Page’s trajectory within the UFC, sparking speculation that he may be sidelined or penalized in some way after expressing dissatisfaction. As Page intends to make an impact regardless, his upcoming fight could influence his future matchmaking and standing in the welterweight division. Fans are left to watch closely and discuss whether this booking is truly unjust or a strategic step within UFC’s broader plans.
