Karan Jotwani Celebrates Pickleball at PWR DUPR India Masters

Karan Jotwani Celebrates Pickleball: Indian actor Karan Jotwani is savoring every moment at the PWR DUPR India Masters, a significant event that he believes transforms the sport into a global celebration. Taking place in New Delhi, this PWR700 tournament kicked off on Thursday and ran until Sunday, October 27, featuring an impressive roster of over 700 participants from around the world.

Beginning of Pickleball in India

The PWR DUPR India Masters marks a historic milestone as India’s first fully owned and operated pickleball tournament by Pickleball World Rankings (PWR). Following the successful debut of the PWR World Tour in Dubai earlier this year, this tournament represents a significant leap for the sport in the country.

Among the participants are elite international athletes, including the United States’ Dustin Boyer and Phuc Huynh, Roos Van Reek from the Netherlands, Australia’s Mitch Hargreaves and Emilia Schmidt, and Pei Chuan Kao from Chinese Taipei. They will compete alongside top Indian players like Armaan Bhatia and Aditya Ruhela.

Karan Jotwani’s Journey to Pickleball

Karan Jotwani, who has a background in racquet sports, expressed his excitement about participating.

“I have a bit of racquet sports background. I used to play tennis back in the day and was introduced to pickleball just last year when I saw a few people play the sport in my gymkhana back in Mumbai. Anything to do with racquet sport, be it table tennis, badminton, pickleball, padel or even tennis, is very close to my heart.” – (Karan Jotwani)

At 34, Karan Jotwani acknowledges the challenges of competing against younger players.

“I am 34 now so I can’t match these guys at 20 and 18 but then again, the spirit and the enthusiasm they have is immense. A tournament like this in New Delhi, to get so many people from around the world here is a great thing. I don’t think there is a lot of viewership yet of the sport in India but it’s a lot recreational and people would love it.” – (Karan Jotwani)

Pickleball: A Sport for All Ages

The actor also praised pickleball for its inclusive nature, appealing to all age groups.

“It is pan-all age groups for sure. It’s a good sport for everyone. The padel is light and it uses a plastic ball. You don’t have to be perfect unless you go professional. Just have fun.” – (Karan Jotwani)

Karan Jotwani explained, highlighting the accessibility of the sport that encourages enjoyment over perfection.
