The DUPR High School Pickleball State Championship is coming to The Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, California, on March 15, 2025. This highly anticipated pickleball event will bring together top high school players from across the state to compete for the first-ever California State Championship.
Tournament Format and Divisions
This year’s championship will feature two main divisions:
- MLP-Style Team Division (Co-Ed) – Each school can enter up to two teams, with each team consisting of two boys and two girls.
- Singles Division – Schools can enter up to eight singles players (four boys and four girls).
All participants must be currently enrolled high school students, and teams must be formed from the same school. Unfortunately, middle school players are not eligible to compete.

MLPlay Format and Rules
The tournament will follow the MLPlay format, an exciting and fast-paced team competition structure. Team matches will include:
- Women’s Doubles
- Men’s Doubles
- Two Mixed Doubles Matches
If a match is tied 2-2, teams will compete in a Dreambreaker, where players rotate in singles rally scoring until one team reaches 21 points, winning by two.
The tournament director reserves the right to adjust the format based on the number of teams and time constraints.
Registration Requirements
To participate, players must:
- Have a DUPR account (registration available at DUPR.com)
- Sign and submit waivers to Michael Moon (mmoon_98@yahoo.com)
- Check-in at designated times:
- Team Division players: Arrive by 9:30 AM
- Singles Division players: Arrive by 12:00 PM
The team competition is expected to conclude by 1 PM, while singles medal matches will wrap up by the end of the day.
Growing High School Pickleball
This California State Championship is part of a larger effort to grow high school pickleball nationwide. More state championships will take place in the coming weeks, leading up to the High School National Championship.
