Anna Leigh Waters and Her Mother Storm Into 2025 U.S. Open Pickleball Championships Semifinals

Anna Leigh Waters Advances to Semifinals: Anna Leigh Waters, the top-ranked female pickleball player in the world, has reached the women’s doubles semifinals at the 2025 U.S. Open Pickleball Championships. She advanced with her mother, Leigh Waters, in Naples, Florida, after tennis star Andre Agassi exited the mixed doubles competition in the second round.

Mother-Daughter Team Moves Forward

Anna Leigh Waters and her mother, Leigh Waters, won their quarterfinal women’s pro doubles match against Alexa Schull and Ava Cavataio by scores of 11-2 and 11-5. The pair is the defending champions of the tournament and continues to show strong teamwork.

Their next opponents will be Daria Walczak and Allison Harris, who beat Bobbi Oshiro and Susannah Barr 11-6, 3-11, 12-10 in a close match. The semifinal will decide who moves on to the championship round.

Agassi’s Short Run Ends

Andre Agassi, who turned 55 this week, teamed up with 18-year-old Anna Leigh Waters for the mixed pro doubles division. The duo won their first match on Wednesday but lost in their second to Len Yang and Trang Huynh-McClain. With that result, Agassi’s run at the tournament came to an end.

Megan Fudge Eyes Triple Crown

Megan Fudge is still in the running for a rare triple crown at the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships. She has advanced to the semifinals in three events: women’s pro singles, women’s pro doubles, and mixed pro doubles.

Fudge and her women’s doubles partner, Jillian Braverman, beat Nicole Eugenio and Riley Bohnert 11-2, 13-11. They will now face Shelby Bates and Sofia Sewing in the semifinals. Bates and Sewing won their quarterfinal 11-2, 11-2 against Trang Huynh-McClain and Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall.

In mixed doubles, Fudge and Jack Munro defeated Ryler DeHeart and Pei Chuan Kao 11-3, 11-0. They now prepare to face Sofia Sewing and Casey Diamond. Sewing and Diamond reached the semis by defeating Nicole Eugenio and Kyle Koszuta 11-2, 11-6.

In women’s singles, Megan Fudge beat Daria Walczak 11-0, 20-18 in a hard-fought match. Her next opponent will be Simone Jardim, who advanced by winning over Katerina Stewart 12-10, 4-11, 11-9. Bobbi Oshiro also made the semifinals with a win over Pei Chuan Kao 6-11, 11-5, 11-0. Amanda Hendry claimed the last semifinal spot by beating Emilia Schmidt 11-8, 11-9.

Men’s Singles Heats Up

Christopher Haworth, who finished second in 2024, is aiming for gold this year. He won against Frank Davis 11-6, 12-10 and will now face Ammar Wazir. Wazir moved on after defeating Eduardo Irizarry 11-9, 11-6.

In the other half of the bracket, Grayson Goldin beat Armaan Bhatia 11-3, 8-11, 11-8. Goldin will play Ronan Camron, who advanced automatically when Patrick Kawka withdrew.

More Mixed Doubles Action

In another mixed doubles semifinal, Mark Dancuart and Jillian Braverman will take on Richard Livornese and Riley Bohnert. Dancuart and Braverman moved ahead by defeating Bobbi Oshiro and Andre Mick 11-6, 11-7. Livornese and Bohnert earned their spot by winning 11-7, 11-7 against Len Yang and Trang Huynh-McClain.
