In a heartfelt tribute to his late uncle, Peter, Kai Bacon, 19, organized a spirited pickleball tournament fundraiser in Squamish on June 22, 2024. Peter, who battled terminal cancer and passed away in May 2023, inspired the community to rally around the cause.
The event drew two dozen teams, each contributing to the success of the fundraiser, which raised nearly $4,170 for the Sea to Sky Hospice Society. Andrew Bacon, Kai’s father, expressed gratitude in an email to Pique Newsmagazine, highlighting the supportive atmosphere at the courts.
