Connor Zilisch, a Trackhouse Racing driver and Red Bull-sponsored athlete since 2024, has revealed a strict rule regarding the Red Bull hats worn by the brand’s athletes. He explained that these hats, marked with the Red Bull logo, are exclusive to athletes and cannot be shared or sold to others, a violation that could lead to termination. This rule highlights the exclusivity tied to Red Bull’s athlete gear as Zilisch prepares for his continued partnership this year, including races like the Daytona 500.
Exclusive Use of Red Bull Athlete Hats Explained
Since becoming a Red Bull athlete in 2024, Zilisch has worn a distinctive Red Bull hat at events, which is reserved solely for those officially sponsored by the energy drink company. In an interview with PRN Live, Zilisch clarified how the hats are strictly for athletes and not sold to the public as standalone Red Bull merchandise.
“Any hat you see with the Red Bull logo on, it is only for athletes, like you can’t buy a Red Bull hat with just the Red Bull logo. You can buy hats with like the Trackhouse logo or the Red Bull Racing logo,” he replied.
Zilisch also detailed the seriousness of this rule, emphasizing the potential consequences for athletes who breach it.
“If you are an athlete and you give a hat to somebody and you get caught like you can get fired,” Connor Zilisch added, “and whenever you are at an event or if you’re out and about and you see someone with a hat. Unless they’ve bought like a knockoff one off ebay or something, most of the time, they’re a professional athlete and you can relate and walk up to them. And they’re going to know that we’re in a club of only a couple 100 athletes.”
Connor Zilisch’s Racing Achievements and Current Season
Entering the 2026 season, Zilisch has already made a name for himself as a versatile and successful driver. He secured a podium finish by placing second in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona, piloting the No.31 Cadillac for Whelen Action Express Racing. His previous experience includes a victory in the LMP2 class during his 2024 Rolex debut, demonstrating his capabilities across different racing disciplines.

His partnership with Red Bull continues this year with coverage spanning 25 races, including the high-profile Daytona 500. During this time, teammates like Shane van Gisbergen will also represent Red Bull’s racing interests, notably at events such as Echopark Speedway on February 22.
Prospects for Formula 1 and Comments on Career Path
Connor Zilisch’s success in multiple racing formats, from go-karting where he won the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, to series like ARCA, Mazda MX-5 Cup, the CARS Tour, Trans-Am, IMSA, and NASCAR, has fueled speculation about his future. With Cadillac making its entry into Formula 1 this year alongside seasoned drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, questions arose about Zilisch’s potential to follow that path.
“If I have a very successful first few years in NASCAR, it’s not something I wouldn’t say no to,” the 19-year-old replied.
This openness to transition reflects his strategic view of career development amid a competitive motorsport landscape. Meanwhile, Zilisch also expressed his thoughts on NASCAR’s playoff formats, contrasting the recent single-race championship deciders with the previous Chase format, which he preferred.
Red Bull Rule’s Impact on Athlete Community and Brand Integrity
The exclusivity of the Red Bull athlete hat symbolizes the tight-knit, elite nature of the group sponsored by the brand, reinforcing a distinct identity for drivers like Zilisch and van Gisbergen. The enforcement of this hat rule underlines Red Bull’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and authenticity of its sponsorships, where breaches can lead to swift professional consequences.
As Zilisch continues to build his career with Trackhouse Racing and grow within Red Bull’s athlete roster, adherence to such rules will remain essential. This policy not only protects the brand’s image but also strengthens the shared identity among its athletes, fostering a sense of belonging within an exclusive club.
