FISHERS, Ind. — Defending Indianapolis 500 winner Alex Palou revealed the official ticket design that race fans will receive for this year’s event. The unveiling took place Tuesday evening at K1 Speed in Fishers, where Palou opened a package from his primary sponsor, DHL, showcasing the new ticket for the first time.
The ticket features Palou in his distinctive yellow DHL fire suit, arms raised triumphantly after his victory at the 109th Indianapolis 500 last May. This win marked the first Indy 500 triumph for the four-time IndyCar champion and came after he held off 2022 winner Marcus Ericsson in a race that concluded under caution due to a final lap crash.
A Tradition of Honoring Champions Continues with New Ticket Design
Indianapolis Motor Speedway senior art director Mandy Walsh, who designed this year’s ticket, emphasized the long-standing tradition of placing the race winner’s image on the ticket. This custom began in 1948 when driver Mauri Rose, who had won in 1947, became the first to appear on the ticket, coinciding with his third Indy 500 victory that year.
Palou reflected on the moment, saying,
“I always had to sign the ticket as a driver, and I always wanted be on the ticket,”
and added,
“It’s amazing. I love it. It was probably the coolest day of my life, and I cannot wait to see it on a small scale all around IMS. It’s going to look good.”

The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This ticket unveiling not only honors Palou’s historic victory but also serves as a keepsake for fans attending the event. With such a rich heritage and passionate competitors like Palou and Ericsson, this year’s race promises to be another thrilling chapter in the story of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
