The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington is set to take place from March 13 to 15 in North Texas, blending the thrill of open-wheel racing with a unique cultural experience. Before the cars hit the track, the Arlington Museum of Art is showcasing Chasing Victory: An INDYCAR Exhibition, a captivating display that highlights the speed, innovation, and legacy of IndyCar racing right in the heart of the Arlington entertainment district.
Bringing IndyCar’s Legacy to Life Through Art
Bill Miller, president of the Grand Prix of Arlington, describes IndyCar racing as a form of art in motion.
They are technologically advanced and, they’re just incredible,
Miller said.
And the talent of the driver goes right along, right along with it.
The exhibit features historic race cars, demonstrating how design and engineering have evolved over the last century, allowing fans to explore the intricate craftsmanship behind these high-speed machines.
Kendall Quirk, the museum’s director of exhibitions, emphasized the broader concept of art that the exhibit aims to convey.
I think that there’s an art to everything,
Quirk noted.
And we like to really push people to think about art as more than just a painting on a wall.
Arlington Prepares to Make Racing History
Marking its first IndyCar race, Arlington hopes to establish a lasting presence in the motorsports world with a course winding through its bustling entertainment district. The 2.73-mile track circles iconic landmarks such as the homes of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, while offering 36 acres of space for spectators to enjoy the event.
Miller stressed the importance of the inaugural race.
We like to say, ‘where will you be when history is made?,’
he said.
An inaugural race only happens once.
He also highlighted Arlington’s capacity to host large-scale events and the appeal of the setting.
Arlington understands big events and we look forward to showcasing Arlington to the world,
Miller explained.
When you look at the backdrop of AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, you can’t get a better footprint to showcase it.
Engaging Fans with a Unique Race Weekend
The combination of the exhibition and the race offers a distinctive experience for visitors, enabling them to appreciate both the technical artistry of IndyCar cars and the excitement of live competition. Organizers are committed to creating an event that fans can see, feel, and remember up close.
The Chasing Victory: An INDYCAR Exhibition will remain open at the Arlington Museum of Art through July 12, providing extended opportunities to explore the relationship between racing and artistic innovation beyond race weekend.
